Lake Miltona is
a heavily developed
recreational lake
located in Douglas County eleven
miles north of Alexandria. It is
considered one of the finest
lakes in Central Minnesota, and
has been rated third in the
state for providing conditions
and nutrients to sustain fish
life per acre feet of water.
Lake Miltona was named for
Florence Miltona Roadtruck, the
wife of a pioneer who settled
there. |

The lake offers a multitude of
fish habitats from shallow
submerged flats to crystal clear
depths that plunge over a
hundred feet. Lake Miltona is an
amazing paradise for the angler
with a variety of
fish
species including
Crappie, Bluegill, Sunfish,
Largemouth Bass, Muskie,
Northern Pike, Perch, Rock Bass,
Smallmouth Bass, and Walleye.

Lake Miltona covers
5724.28 acres of spring
fed waters, and has a maximum
depth of 105 feet.
The lake has over 15 miles of shoreline,
and extends over 7 miles long. |

Lake Miltona Water quality
and clarity are
considered good.
Secchi disk transparency
is the method of
measure. Clarity
monitoring is showing
significant increases
over a year ago - 19
feet most recently as
compared to 16 feet a
year ago (2015). |

Lake Miltona supports an
abundant and diverse aquatic
plant community, including large
beds of hard stem
bulrush. These
aquatic plants provide important
spawning and cover habitat for
many fish species. They
also help to maintain water
quality and protect the
shoreline from wave and boat
traffic induced erosion. |

Lake Miltona also
provides great
ice fishing
opportunities for the
winter residents. |
