Water Quality - Sandy Beach Project

Sandy Beach Runoff Project

The Sandy Beach runoff project located on the north side of Lake Miltona has been completed.

The scope of the project was to meter the water runoff by building an earthen damn with a metered height to create a holding pond for the water to settle in before running into the lake. Many LMA members have had problems with washed out roads, beaches, and driveways due to the runoff. The project will also prevent runoff from the farm fields draining directly into the lake.

Prior to the completion of the project, heavy rains would make the water at the Sandy Beach access look like chocolate milk.  We know that Mother Nature usually wins, but this will help in most heavy rains to slow the water down.
